GAINESVILLE, Fla. -  The Duke women's golf team opened the Gator Women's Invitational on Friday with a 18-hole ledger of 295 and are in eighth overall with 36 holes remaining at the 6,002-yard, Par 70 Mark Bostic Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

Leading the tournament is Alabama with a 284, while Georgia (286), Florida State (290), Kentucky (291), Auburn (293), South Florida (294), Florida (294), Duke (295), Arkansas (297), Baylor (302) and Chattanooga (302) round out the top 10. 

Stacey Kim, a native from Columbus, Ga., fired a two-over par 72 and is tied for 20th overall.  She started the day off with two bogeys to round out the front nine at two-over par. She parred the next three holes and suffered her third bogey of the day on No. 13, before carding a birdie on No. 14 on her way to finishing two-over.  Kim hit 11 greens, five fairways and had 31 putts. 

The No. 1 ranked golfer in the nation, Lindy Duncan carded a 74 on Friday and is tied for 20th heading into Saturday's round.  Duncan, who is out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., posted four straight pars before posting a birdie on the fifth hole to move to one-under-par.  She then suffered three bogeys over the next four holes to move to two-over-par making the turn.  On the back nine, Duncan had seven pars, one birdie and one bogey on her way to finishing with a 74.  She hit 10 fairways, 11 greens and had 31 putts on the day. 

A product of Caesarea, Israel, Laetitia Beck posted a four-over-par, 74, to finish tied for 38th after the first round of play. She started the day out with eight consecutive pars before bogeying the three of her next four holes. Beck collected a birdie on No. 14 and back-to-back bogeys on No. 16 and 17 to finish four-over-par.  She hit eight greens, four fairways and had 30 putts. 
 
Sophomore Alejandra Cangrejo carded a seven-over par, 77, to finish tied for 56th after day one. A product of Bogota, Colombia, Cangrejo collected three bogeys on her first nine holes.  After making the turn with a three-over par 38, she suffered a bogey on No. 11 before carded three consecutive bogeys to close the day at seven-over.  

Courtney Ellenbogen suffered a double-bogey and three bogeys on the first nine holes to make the turn at five-over par.  Ellenbogen, who is out of Blacksburg, Va., continued to struggle on the back with a bogey on No. 10 and a double-bogey on No. 13 before firing a birdie on No. 17.  The Blacksburg, Va. native, collected a bogey on the final hole to close out the day at eight-over-par 75. 

Freshman Irene Jung, who is playing as an individual, started the day off strong with a birdie on No. 3 before bogeying five of her next six holes to finish the front nine four-over-par.   The Bedford, Nova Scotia native, ran into some trouble on the back nine posting four bogeys and one double-bogey to finish day one 10-over par 80 and is now tied for 87th overall.

Duke will tee off on Saturday in the second round beginning at 9:00 a.m., along with Florida and Arkansas.
