GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Duke men’s and women’s cross country teams sent six runners to the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning. Sophomores Ken Sullivan and Tradelle Ward ran for the men and senior Tiare Ferguson, junior Amanda Patterson and freshmen Katie Apibunyopas and Devotia Moore went for the women.
On the men’s side, Ward placed fourth overall out of 126 runners in the eight-kilometer race. He finished in a time of 26:18.4. Sullivan took 25th place with a 28:30.8.
For the women, Patterson was Duke’s top finisher with a time of 19:49.8 and a 10th place showing. The next runner to the finish for the Blue Devils was Moore, who placed 15th and clocked 20:01.3. Ferguson was 29th at 21:02.1 and Apibunyopas was immediately behind her in 30th at 21:02.9. 136 runners made the five-kilometer run.
The Blue Devils’ men’s and women’s teams will next compete on Fri., Oct. 12. The men will head to Boone, N.C., for the Blue Ridge Open and the women will once again head north to University Park, Pa., for the Penn State Invitational.
