DURHAM, N.C. - Duke women's lacrosse senior Lindsay Gilbride has been named Ronald McDonald House Athlete of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to a 16-15, come-from-behind victory over Vanderbilt Sunday in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Championships.
Gilbride led all scorers on the day with five goals, including the gamewinner with one second remaining on the clock, to keep Duke's season alive. In addition, the Alexandria, Va., native added an assist, three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover. Following Sunday's game, Gilbride has garnered WomensLax.com and Nike Player of the Week recognition. She is currently second on the team in goals (45), assists (23) and points (68) and ranks sixth in Duke history in both career goals (157) and points (210).
With the win, Duke advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals and will face No. 2 Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., on Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. (CST).
