Blue Devils Return Home to Face Vanderbilt on ESPN3
The eighth-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team (4-1, 1-1 ACC) returns home Saturday at 2 p.m. to face Vanderbilt on ESPN3 ... The Blue Devils are 4-0 this season at home after opening the year with four consecutive wins over Virginia Tech, Presbyterian, Richmond and William & Mary ... Vanderbilt enters the weekend with a 1-4 ledger after falling 15-8 to No. 3 Northwestern Feb. 24.

Vanderbilt Series History
Sunday's contest marks the 20th all-time meeting between Duke and Vanderbilt with the Blue Devils holding a 15-4 advantage in the all-time series ... Duke has won four of the last five meetings between the two schools.

Last Time We Met
The last meeting between the two teams came in Nash ville on Feb. 12, 2012 ... Duke held the advantage in shots (20-15) and draw controls (10-4) but the Commodores came away with a 7-5 victory ... Both teams were ranked nationally coming into the contest, with Duke at No. 5 and Vanderbilt at No. 19 in the IWLCA poll ... Sophomore Kerrin Maurer led the Blue Devil offense with two goals while 2012 graduate Kim Wenger, sophomore Taylor Trimble and junior Maddy Morrissey also scored ... All but one Vanderbilt goal came off of a free position shot, with the Commodores converting on 6-of-7 free position opportunities while Duke was 0-for-3 on eight-meters for the day.

Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt enters the weekend with a 1-4 ledger after falling to then-No. 1 Northwestern by a 15-8 score Feb. 24 in Nashville ... Carly Linthicum leads the Commodores with 24 points on 20 goals and four assists so far this season ... Linthicum led the squad against Northwestern, registering her fourth hat trick of the year ... Kelly Chandler has corraled a team-high nine draw controls for Vanderbilt while Chandler, Mallory Schonk and Brandi Byner have caused seven turnovers each ... In goal, Chelsea Pasfield has made 54 saves and sports a 12.44 goals against average and a .491 save percentage.

Last Time Out
In an early-season showdown of top-10 teams, Duke suffered its first loss of the season to then-No. 4 Maryland, 15-6, in College Park Sunday ... Sophomore Kerrin Maurer paced the offense with five points (3g, 2a) in the loss ... Senior Kaitlin Gaiss and freshman Kelsey Duryea split time in goal, with Gaiss recording three saves and Duryea eight in her collegiate debut ... Down 9-2 at intermission, Duke opened the second half on a 4-1 run but was unable to slow down the Maryland offense ... The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 1-1 in ACC action this season following a win over Virginia Tech in the season opener.

In the Feb. 24 edition of the NCAA's Division I team statistics, the Blue Devils are ranked first nationally in points scored with 115 through five games (79g, 36a) ... The squad also ranks ninth in the nation in goals per game with a 21.00 average and is tied for ninth overall with 16.00 draw controls per contest.

Blue Devils in the ACC Landscape
Duke leads the ACC in several categories through the first five games of the season ... The Blue Devils lead the conference in ground balls per game (17.60), draw controls per game (16.00) and caused turnovers per game (11.00) ... The squad is also second in the ACC in goals per game (15.80), assists per game (7.20) and points per game (23.00) ... Duke's .462 shooting percentage as a team currently ranks third in the league.

Balanced Attack
Fourteen different Blue Devils have scored a goal and 11 players have notched at least one assist through the first five games of the season ... The Blue Devils are 102-11 all-time when facing unranked team with a 4-0 ledger against unranked foes this season ... Duke has not lost to an unranked opponent since falling 14-13 in overtime to Towson on March 25, 1997 for a streak of 93 consecutive wins.

Duryea Impressive in Collegiate Debut
Freshman Kelsey Duryea made her first appearance of the season in goal during the second half of the game against Maryland on Feb. 24 ... The rookie from Beverly, Mass., faced 15 shots, totaling eight saves while allowing six goals ... Her .571 save percentage currently leads all goalkeepers in the ACC. 

Blue Devils Among NCAA Leaders
Sophomore Kerrin Maurer is tied for second nationally with 24 points through five games this season ... Maurer also ranks third in the assists category with 12 helpers in the Feb. 24 edition of the NCAA's Division I statistics ... Senior Makenzie Hommel is tied for sixth overall in goals scored with a team-high 13 and also ranks tied for 10th in points with 17 ... Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin Gaiss is tied for 21st nationally in goals against average at 8.00 in five outings this season.

Maurer Leading ACC in Assists
Sophomore Kerrin Maurer leads the ACC with 12 assists this season for an average of 2.40 per contest ... Classmate Brigid Smith also tops the conference stats with six free position goals (1.20 fpg/g) ...  Freshman Kelsey Duryea leads the league in save percentage (.571) after seeing the field for the first time this season against Maryland ... Duryea also ranks second in the ACC in saves per game (8.00), while fellow goalkeeper Kaitlin Gaiss is tied for second in the conference in goals against average (8.00) ... Junior Taylor Virden is among the league leaders in ground balls per game with 13 on the year (2.60 gb/g).

Attack Duo Moving Up Career Lists
Senior Makenzie Hommel and sophomore Kerrin Maurer have both started the 2013 season in strong fashion ... Hommel leads Duke in goals (13) and ranks second in points (17) while Maurer is the team's leader in points (24) and assists (12) through the first four games ... Hommel needs just 21 points and Maurer 27 to reach the 100-point mark for their careers ... Maurer is also approaching the 50-assist mark with 36 in just her second season.
