Pair of Top-20 Teams Face Off Saturday in Washington, D.C.
Sixth-ranked Duke hits the road for the second time this season to face No. 11 Georgetown Saturday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C. ... The Blue Devils moved up two spots in the IWLCA Coaches Poll this week following a 15-12 victory over Vanderbilt last weekend in Koskinen Stadium ... No. 11 Georgetown enters the weekend matchup undefeated at 4-0. The Hoyas recorded a 15-8 win over then-No. 18 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., in their last outing on March 5.

Georgetown Series History
Saturday's contest marks the 21st all-time meeting between Duke and Georgetown. The Blue Devils hold a 13-7 advantage in the all-time series ... Duke has won eight of the last nine meetings between the two schools, including three straight games.

Last Time We Met
The last meeting between the two teams came in Durham on March 10, 2012 ... The Blue Devils' defense, highlighted by Mollie Mackler's season-high 18-save performance, propelled the squad to a 14-7 win over Georgetown ... 2012 graduate Amanda Jones and junior Maddy Morrissey both netted hat tricks in the victory ... Both teams were ranked nationally coming into the contest, with Duke at No. 4 and the Hoyas at No. 15 in the IWLCA poll ... Georgetown entered the matchup averaging just over 14 goals a game but the Blue Devils' defense limited the visiting team to half that mark despite trailing in overall shots, 31-23 ... 2012 graduate Mackler recorded 10 of her 18 saves on Hoya free positions.

Eight current Blue Devils have recorded at least one point against Georgetown in their careers ... Junior Maddy Morrissey registered a career-high four points on three goals and one assist in last year's meeting with the Hoyas ... Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin Gaiss made her first start against the Hoyas on March 13, 2010, tallying eight saves and allowing eight goals in 60 minutes of action.

Following the win over Vanderbilt, Duke moved up two spots to No. 6 in this week's IWLCA poll and moved up one spot to No. 5 in the latest Inside Lacrosse deBeer media poll ... Sophomore Kerrin Maurer ranks second in the ACC in assists per game (2.33) and is tied for third in the league in points per game (5.00) while pacing the Blue Devils with 30 points on the year ... Sophomore Gabby Moise and junior Taylor Virden anchor the defense with nine caused turnovers each while Virden also leads Duke in ground balls with 14 ... Redshirt junior Maddie Salamone's 23 draw controls over six games rank her third in the ACC ... Freshman Kelsey Duryea leads the conference in saves per game (10.00) and save percentage (.526) after making the first start of her career in the win over Vanderbilt.

Scouting the Hoyas
Georgetown enters the weekend undfeated at 4-0 after topping Stanford by a 15-8 score March 5 in Palo Alto ... Caroline Tarzian leads the Hoyas with 15 points on 10 goals and five assists and scored five goals to pace the squad in the win over the Cardinal ... Kelyn Freedman has recorded a team-high 10 draw controls while five different Hoya players have caused four turnovers each ... In goal, Barb Black has made 16 saves and sports a 9.64 goals against average and a .333 save percentage.

Last Time Out
The Blue Devils started last Saturday's contest against Vanderbilt on an 8-0 run and held on through multiple scoring runs by the Commodores to emerge with a 15-12 win at Koskinen Stadium ... Sophomore Kerrin Maurer paced the offense, matching a career high with four goals ... Senior Makenzie Hommel, junior Maddy Morrissey and sophomore Taylor Trimble also netted two goals apiece in a balanced scoring effort by Duke ... Freshman Kelsey Duryea finished with 12 saves in her first start ... Junior Taylor Virden tallied a career-best six draw controls as the Blue Devils won the category, 15-14.

Duke Second Nationally in Points Scored
In the March 3 edition of the NCAA's Division I team statistics, the Blue Devils are ranked second nationally in points scored with 134 through six games (94g, 40a) ... Only Massachusetts has scored more points with 143 in six contests this spring ... Duke also ranks seventh in the nation in caused turnovers per game (15.83) and 10th in goals per game (15.67).

Blue Devils in the ACC Landscape
Duke leads the ACC in several categories through the first five games of the season ... The Blue Devils lead the conference in draw controls per game (15.83), shots per game (33.33), shots on goal per game (26.83) and caused turnovers per game (10.50) ... The squad is also second in the ACC in goals per game (15.67), assists per game (6.67) and points per game (22.33) ... Duke's .470 shooting percentage as a team currently ranks second in the league.

Balanced Attack
Fourteen different Blue Devils have scored a goal and 11 players have notched at least one assist through the first six games of the season ... Ten Blue Devils have also recorded multi-goal games this spring ... In a 23-0 shutout of Presbyterian on Feb. 10, 13 different Duke players found the back of the net.

In the Month of March
Duke has played 118 games in March in program history ... The Blue Devils are 83-35 all-time during the month ... The squad is 1-0 in the month this year following last weekend's win over Vanderbilt ... Duke last lost in March on March 30, 2012 in a 4-2 decision against North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

vs. Ranked Opponents
Since the 2008 season, Duke is 37-33 against ranked teams ... The Blue Devils have lost just five times to teams ranked outside the top 10 in the past five years ... The 2012 season saw the Blue Devils compile a 6-7 ledger against ranked teams ... Duke is 0-1 against ranked squads this season following last weekend's loss to then-No. 4 Maryland.

Duryea Impressive Between the Pipes
Freshman Kelsey Duryea made her first appearance of the season in goal during the second half of the game against Maryland on Feb. 24 ... The rookie from Beverly, Mass., faced 15 shots, totaling eight saves while allowing six goals ... Duryea was tabbed to start the following contest against Vanderbilt, totaling 12 saves to guide the Blue Devils to a 15-12 victory ... Her .526 save percentage and 10.00 saves per game average both lead the ACC.

Blue Devils Among NCAA Leaders
Sophomore Kerrin Maurer is tied for third in the nation with 14 assists through six games this season ... Maurer also ranks fifth nationally in total points (30) and is tied for 10th in total goals (16) in the March 3 edition of the NCAA's Division I statistics ... Senior Makenzie Hommel is tied for 13th in the goals category with 15 and is tied for 23rd in points at 19 ... Senior goalkeeper Kaitlin Gaiss is tied for 19th nationally in goals against average at 8.00 in five outings this season. 

Maurer One of ACC's Top Scorers
Sophomore Kerrin Maurer ranks second in the ACC with 14 assists this season for an average of 2.33 per contest ... Maurer is also tied for second in the league in points per game at 5.00 ... Classmate Brigid Smith tops the conference stats with six free position goals (1.00 fpg/g) ... Freshman Kelsey Duryea leads the league in save percentage (.526) and saves per game (10.00) after making her first start against Vanderbilt on March 2 ... Junior Taylor Virden is among the league leaders in ground balls per game with 14 on the year (2.33 gb/g) and redshirt junior Maddie Salamone comes in at third in the ACC with an average of 3.83 draw controls per contest.

Quick on the Draw
After six games, Duke leads its opponents in draw controls by an 95-65 margin ... Redshirt junior Maddie Salamone leads the squad with 23 draw controls this spring and recorded a career-high nine in the Blue Devils' season opener against Virginia Tech on Feb. 8 ... Junior Taylor Virden (20), sophomore Taylor Trimble (13) and junior Maddy Morrissey (10) are also in double digits in the draw controls category.

Attack Duo Moving Up Career Lists
Senior Makenzie Hommel and sophomore Kerrin Maurer have both started the 2013 season in strong fashion ... Maurer is the team's leader in goals (16), assists (14) and points (30) while Hommel ranks second in goals (15) and points (19) through the first six games ... Hommel needs just 19 points and Maurer 21 to reach the 100-point mark for their careers ... Maurer is also approaching the 50-assist mark with 38 in just her second season.
