Duke Leads Conference in ACC Academic Honors

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke led all Atlantic Coast Conference women’s lacrosse teams with 26 selections to the 2013 ACC Academic Honor Roll, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

The Blue Devils were the league’s only team with more than 20 selections to the Academic Honor Roll. Virginia was second to Duke with 20 selections, followed by Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia Tech with 18 each and Boston College with 13.

The Academic Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.00 or better for the full academic year.

Among Duke’s 2013 selections were All-ACC honorees Makenzie Hommel, Kerrin Maurer, Taylor Trimble and Taylor Virden. Hommel, Kaitlin Gaiss, Mie Graham, Sarah Kendrick, Lauren Martin and Maddie Salamone appeared on the list for the fourth time in their respective careers.
