DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s lacrosse team has been tabbed No. 6 in Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook women’s Division I preseason poll. The Blue Devils compiled a record of 14-6 last season and advanced to the national quarterfinals.
Reigning national champion North Carolina headlines the preseason poll while Maryland, Syracuse, Florida and Northwestern round out the top five. Six ACC squads are ranked within the top 10, including Duke at No. 6, Virginia at No. 8 and Notre Dame at No. 10.
Under the direction of head coach Kerstin Kimel, the Blue Devils are coming off of their ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2013. The squad returns nine starters this spring, including IWLCA All-Americans Kelsey Duryea and Taylor Virden on defense and All-ACC and All-South Region honorees Kerrin Maurer and Taylor Trimble at attack. The program also welcomed the nation’s sixth-ranked recruiting class according to Inside Lacrosse.
