DURHAM, N.C.-After five days of two sessions a day, the Duke University men's soccer team was rewarded with a full field intrasquad scrimmage on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have worked hard since opening preseason camp Aug. 9 and will play in their first exhibition game Aug. 17 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Under fifth-year head coach John Kerr, Duke is anticipating the start of the season. With a strong corps of returning players in addition to a talented group of incoming players, the Blue Devils are aiming for their ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth and fourth ACC title.
The group of 26 players will make the trek to Fort Wayne, Ind., this weekend for the annual SHinDigZ National Soccer Festival. The Blue Devils will take on Big Ten leaders Ohio State and Michigan State, Aug. 17 and 19, respectively.
The regular season officially kicks off Aug. 25 when Duke heads back to Indiana to take on Notre Dame. The game is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m., at Notre Dame's Alumni Stadium.
