DURHAM, N.C.-Duke University senior goalkeeper James Belshaw was named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the Blue Devils to a pair of shutout victories last week. Belshaw also was selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award.

Belshaw anchored the Duke defense in a pair of shutouts and iced the ACC victory over Clemson with a penalty kick goal. The Nottingham, England made seven saves overall in the two victories and pushed Duke's home win streak to three games.

In the first midweek game of the season, Belshaw helped anchor the Blue Devils' backline to its first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Georgia State. Belshaw made one save as Duke allowed the Panthers just one shot on goal.

Three days later in the ACC home opener for Duke, the senior captain was outstanding with six saves, including four in the second half, in a 2-0 victory over Clemson. Belshaw added a goal against the Tigers, converting a penalty kick in the second half.

Belshaw is 3-3-0 this season with a 0.84 goals against average and a .808 save percentage. He has one shutout to his name and has helped Duke to consecutive shutouts. He currently ranks third in the ACC in save percentage and fourth in the league in goals against average.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The candidate list will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official national ballot.

Duke continues its ACC schedule Friday night, Sept. 21, at Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., at Spry Stadium.
