DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior Sebastien Ibeagha to learn more about the Missouri City, Texas, native.
GoDuke.com: Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.
Sebastien Ibeagha: The team I’m with. I love my team. They’re like my second family, and they’re all like my brothers. Second would be playing the sport that I truly love and have fun doing. My third would have to be just being at Duke. It’s such a great institution and it’s such a great place to be a part of all the diversity that the University has to offer.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite competition-related memory?
SI: My favorite memory would be scoring the first goal last year in our season opener at Koskinen stadium against UC Santa Barbara. I think scoring the first goal of the season with that big crowd and the craziness was just a lot of fun.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite memory away from competition?
SI: When I went to the leadership camp with a couple of my teammates and we did a zip-line. One of my teammates is afraid of heights and after he went up to the top he froze and he was stuck up there for about twenty minutes. It was hilarious.
GoDuke.com: Name three foods you can’t live without.
SI: Rice Krispie treats, quesadillas and chicken nuggets.
GoDuke.com: Describe yourself in three words.
SI: Straight-forward, impatient and stubborn.
GoDuke.com: Name three things that motivate you to perform.
SI: My goal of performing at the next level and trying to play professional soccer. Second is to win for myself, as well as my teammates. We’re college athletes and our goal is to win a national championship and win the ACC. My third is to just do something that I love very well.
