DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University senior defender Sebastien Ibeagha and junior midfielder Sean Davis recently were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-South Region teams. Ibeagha captured first team honors, while Davis was voted to the second team.

A two-year team captain, Ibeagha is earning his fourth consecutive All-Region honor and his second first team nod. He has been Duke’s defensive anchor at center back throughout his career and helped the Blue Devils to a 0.93 goals against average and eight shutouts this season. The Missouri City, Texas native also contributed a pair of goals in 2013 to bring his career total to eight. A two-time All-ACC first team selection and a second team honoree in 2011, Ibeagha has started all 70 games of his career, amassed eight goals and three assists for 19 points and helped Duke to 21 shutouts.

Davis, Duke’s leader in the midfield, is earning his first all-region accolade after helping pace the Blue Devils offense. The motor to Duke’s offense, Davis had an outstanding season with a career-high six goals and three assists for 15 points. During the Blue Devils’ eight-game unbeaten streak, the Holmdel, N.J., native led Duke with four goals. He played all but 17 minutes in 2013 and has started all but two games in his career. A two-time All-ACC pick, in Davis’ three seasons he owns 45 starts, seven goals and seven assists for 21 points.

Duke finished 2013 with an 8-5-6 overall record after finishing the regular season on an eight-game unbeaten streak. The Blue Devils fell to top-ranked and NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame in a narrow 1-0 contest in the ACC Quarterfinals to close out the year.
