DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University sophomore striker Brody Huitema is spending his final days before returning to campus for preseason with the Canadian U-20 Men’s National Team in Northern Ireland at the 2014 Dale Farm Milk Cup.
Huitema joins 17 other Canadians on the U-20 squad as it prepares for the CONCACAF U-20 Championships next year. Canada captured a 2-0 victory in its Milk Cup opener with Huitema providing the insurance goal.
In the second of three games, Canada tied China 1-1 to remain unbeaten heading into the final match against Northern Ireland.
Huitema led all Blue Devil scorers as a freshman with six goals and four assists for 16 points en route to earning All-ACC second team honors. He started 18 of 19 games for the Blue Devils as a rookie.
The Blue Devils return to campus for preseason Aug. 12 with practices beginning Aug. 13. Duke will host a pair of home exhibition matches Aug. 19 and Aug. 22 against Radford and College of Charleston, respectively. Both games are slated for 7 p.m., starts.
