DURHAM, N.C.—Duke University men’s soccer standouts Sebastien Ibeagha and Sean Davis are among the top 100 players heading into the 2013 campaign according to TopDrawerSoccer.com. Ibeagha headlines Duke’s duo as the No. 6 overall selection, while Davis comes in at No. 35.
A senior captain, Ibeagha has anchored the Blue Devils’ backline the past three seasons. He garnered the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2012 after helping Duke post nine shutouts and a 0.70 goals against average. The nine shutouts were the most since 2009, while the 0.70 goals against average was Duke’s lowest since the 1987 squad allowed a paltry 0.63 goals per game. In addition to his defensive efforts, the All-ACC first team choice was an offensive force for the Blue Devils, tallying five goals and two assists for a team-high 12 points.
Davis was a mainstay in the Duke midfield in 2012, earning All-ACC second team honors. After missing part of his freshman season to injury, the Holmdel, N.J., native returned for his sophomore campaign to earn All-ACC second team recognition. He finished last season with three assists and has a goal and four assists for his career.
The Blue Devils hold their first practice Wednesday, Aug. 14 and will open the 2013 campaign Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. versus Rutgers.
