The list of six includes players from five different states and another from Toronto, Canada. Chad Bush (Toronto, Canada), Wade Clement (Los Angeles, Calif.), Zach Mathers (Keller, Texas), Luis Rendon (Richmond, Va.) and Ryan Thompson (Cary, N.C.) all come to Duke after outstanding scholastic and club soccer careers, while Jack Coleman (Norman, Okla.) becomes a Blue Devil after a one season at Indiana University.
"We are very excited about this group of guys," Kerr said. "They are incredibly talented and will make us a better team right away. And even more importantly they are outstanding young men. We are looking forward to officially welcoming them to the Duke family in August."
Chad Bush - Ottawa, Canada - Toronto F.C. Academy - Goalkeeper
Bush joins the Blue Devils with a strong goalkeeping resume that includes experience with the Canada Men's National Team program ... A member of the Toronto FC Academy squad ... Most recently was selected to compete with the Ottawa Fury of the Premier Development League this summer ... Picked as one of 19 players to participate in the Canada Under-20 camp as it prepares for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 ... Also was a part of Canada's U-17 squad that competed in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2011 ... Played for the Ottawa Fury U-15 and U-17 squads as well ... Played for the Fury U-17 squad at the USL Super-Y League North American Finals at the age of 15 and was named to All-Tournament Team.
Wade Clement - Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Santa Monica United - Goalkeeper
Clement enjoyed a standout career at Harvard-Westlake High School ... A two-year letterwinner for the Cubs ... Selected as the recipient of the Coach's Award as a junior ... Earned second team all-league recognition his senior season ... Plays club soccer for Santa Monica United since 2005 ... Also played football for Harvard-Westlake, earning honorable mention all-league honors.
Jack Coleman - Norman, Okla. - FC Dallas Academy - D/M
Prior to Duke: Coleman joins the Blue Devils after a season at Indiana University ... Coleman played in one game for the Hoosiers.
