With summer just around the corner, you need to start planning activities to keep your young soccer player occupied during the time off from school. The Duke University men’s soccer team has the answer with various options of camps.
Parents can opt to send their children to the summer day camp from June 24-28 or the more intense overnight sessions from July 6-10 or July 11-15. The day camp is open to boys ages 5-12 and runs from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. for $295. A half-day package also is available for $210. The overnight camp is designed for the older players, ages 11-18, and features some of the top local coaches and many Duke soccer players. The costs for the overnight sessions are $655 for a resident or $555 for a commuter.
The day camp program is specifically designed for players who want to learn the fundamentals of soccer. There is an emphasis on technique and the campers will get to play fun small-sided games allowing them a lot of touches on the ball.
The overnight game is structured for the higher level player who wants to continue his career at the collegiate level. The camp features specialized positional training, soccer specific strength and conditioning exercises as well as a written evaluation from the staff at the conclusion of camp. The camp also has a specific goalkeeping school, offering goalies specialized training and high-level game experiences.
