DURHAM, N.C.—The postseason awards continue to roll in for Duke University senior Sebastien Ibeagha as the center back recently was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America Third Team. The NSCAA All-America award is the first for Ibeagha.

Ibeagha is one of six players from the Atlantic Coast Conference to earn All-America honors as Maryland, Notre Dame, Virginia, Duke, Clemson all had at least one player recognized. The two-time captain is the 10th Duke defender to capture All-America accolades and the 34th Blue Devil to be selected. Overall, Ibeagha’s honor marks the 50th All-America award for the Duke program.

A stalwart defender, Ibeagha is a three-time All-ACC selection, including garnering first team honors each of the past two seasons. He was the 2012 ACC Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring Duke to an impressive nine shutouts and a 0.70 goals against average.

This past season, the Missouri City, Texas native played all but 17 minutes at center back. He led the Blue Devils to seven shutouts and a 0.93 goals against average and added two goals to the offensive effort. He was named to the All-ACC first team for his efforts and collected his second consecutive NSCAA All-South Region first team award.

A starter in all 70 contests at Duke, Ibeagha has played 6,379 minutes, scored eight goals and provided three assists while anchoring the Blue Devil backline to 26 shutouts in his career.

Duke finished 2013 with an 8-5-6 overall record after finishing the regular season on an eight-game unbeaten streak. The Blue Devils fell to top-ranked and NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame in a narrow 1-0 contest in the ACC Quarterfinals to close out the year.
