DURHAM, N.C.—With men’s soccer preseason camp on the horizon preseason honors are starting to roll in for the Blue Devils. Duke senior midfielder Sean Davis and incoming freshmen Jeremy Ebobisse and Brian White all were named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Division I Preseason Best XI.

Davis garnered first team recognition and is one of two ACC players selected to the top team. Ebobisse and White both were named to the Freshman Best XI Team. Duke and Georgetown both have two freshmen represented, while the three overall picks are behind UCLA and Georgetown’s four. Maryland and Duke are the lone two ACC programs to have three players selected.

A two-time captain, the Duke offense runs through Davis. Incredibly gifted with the ball at his feet, the Holmdel, N.J., native ranked second on the team in scoring in 2013 with a career-best six goals and three assists for 15 points. He garnered All-ACC second team honors and was voted the team’s Offensive MVP.

Ebobisse enters his rookie campaign with the Blue Devils after a stellar final season with Bethesda-Olney Academy. The striker led all players in the United States Soccer Development Academy program with 38 goals en route to leading Bethesda-Olney to the USSDA Championship game. Bethesda-Olney finished the year with a 23-2 overall record and had 92 goals with Ebobisse leading the way. His 38 goals were more than seven of the teams in the Eastern Conference.

White, a midfielder, finished his final club season on a high note as he led Players Development Academy (PDA) to the USSDA title. A starter in 27 of his 28 games, White scored 28 goals for the year. In the championship game against Ebobisse and Bethesda-Olney, White scored a goal and assisted on the second in the 2-0 victory.

The Blue Devils open camp Aug. 13 and will host their first scrimmage Aug. 19 against Radford at 7 p.m. The season officially gets underway Aug. 29 in the John Rennie Nike Classic. Duke will take on Loyola Marymount at 7:30 p.m.
