DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke swimming and diving squad makes the short trip to Chapel Hill, N.C. this Saturday, January 26, to line up against conference rival North Carolina.  Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior freestyle swimmer Adam Flur to learn more about the Durham, N.C., native.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite part of being a Duke student-athlete?
Adam Flur: I would say the best part is all of the resources and connections available as far as academics go and life skills with Leslie Barnes because it gets you prepared for jobs and life after school. So, all the available resources and investments that come with being a student-athlete.

GoDuke.com: What has been your favorite class at Duke?
AF: Freshman year, History of Sports with Al Buehler. It was a seminar. That was a lot of fun - he is a great guy and he loves to talk and tell stories.

GoDuke.com: Where is your favorite place to study?
AF: My room. I go to the library very little - except for class I don't like studying in there. It is too crowded and people are stressed out. I get things done in my room. I usually watch TV while I work and can multitask pretty well.

GoDuke.com: What was your favorite food when you were a child?
AF: Steak and potatoes. When I was growing up, more so in high school, my mom would make steak for me at least twice a week. She would make whatever I wanted and I am a big meat guy.

GoDuke.com: What sport other than your own would you play?
AF: It would probably be tennis. I played tennis in high school, my dad played tennis here at Duke. That would probably be the most possible option, but I have always wanted to play basketball since I was a kid. I always dreamed of playing basketball for Duke, but I wasn't quite good enough in that sport.

GoDuke.com: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
AF: I am not sure, probably a professional athlete. I never had a set career path, but I always loved sports and dreamed of playing when I got older.

GoDuke.com: Who is the first swimmer you remember following closely growing up?
AF: I followed swimming a little bit, but it was probably Michael Phelps.

GoDuke.com: Who has been the biggest influence on your life?
AF: My parents. It is the obvious choice, but my dad is the reason why I love sports and chose to be an athlete. Both my mom and dad have supported me in both academics and athletics. They really taught me all of my values and how to act and carry myself.

GoDuke.com: Mountains or Beach?
AF: Beach. Less hiking.
