Before the contest Friday against No. 2 Greyhounds, fans are invited to a pregame tailgate. The Blue Devils and Greyhounds face off at 7 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium.
A full day of activities is scheduled for Saturday, including a run/walk on Duke's Al Buehler trail in the morning in honor of Jimmy Regan. Regan, a former Duke Lacrosse standout was killed in the line of duty in northern Iraq on Feb. 9, 2007. The Lead the Way Fund's annual "A Run Down Hero Highway" was originally scheduled to take place in the fall in New York, but was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy.
Lead the Way Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization established to raise funds in support of disabled U.S. Army Rangers and the families of Rangers who have died, have been injured or are currently serving in harm's way around the world. Lead the Way Fund, Inc. will provide spouses and children of deceased, disabled or active duty Rangers with assistance for health and wellness programs and other services determined to be vital to the family's well-being.
In the evening, former head coach Roy "Rock" Skinner will be honored with the 2012 Duke Men's Lacrosse Alumni Award at a reception. Skinner coached the team from 1967-70 and continues to be a mentor to the program. Following the reception, participants will have the opportunity to join the Iron Dukes Watch Party in Scharf Hall Saturday night, as the Duke men's basketball team takes on rival North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Kids, ages 5-12, will have the opportunity to join the 2013 Blue Devils team on the field Saturday afternoon for a shootaround skills practice session.
All guests must register for the weekend if they plan to attend the reception on Saturday, March 9. Registration for the entire weekend is $125 per person and includes all the above events, as well as a Duke gift. The registration fee is non-refundable and closes March 2.
