DURHAM, N.C. – Several former Blue Devils have been among the top performers in the early portions of the 2013 WNBA season. Monique Currie has led the Mystics to four wins this year, just one less win than the squad won all of last season. Currie ranks among the league leaders in three-point field goal percentage, rebounds, and scoring. Lindsay Harding has also enjoyed an exceptional start in her first season with the Los Angeles Sparks, as she is second in the WNBA in assists at 5.8 APG.

Mistie Bass - Duke ‘06
Connecticut Sun, 6-3, Forward
2012-13 Stats: 7 games, 4.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 1.1 APG, 0.3 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Bass has played in seven games for the Sun this season, averaging 4.9 points and 15.1 minutes per game. Her best game of the season came on June 14 against the New York Liberty where she scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds. The Sun are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-5 record.

Alana Beard – Duke ‘04
LA Sparks, 5-11, Guard/Forward
2012-13 Stats: 3 games, 6.3 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.3 BPG
Beard has played in three games in the 2013 campaign in her second season with the Los Angeles Sparks. In her first game of the year, Beard scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting and recorded two steals in 20 minutes of playing time. With her limited touches shooting, Beard leads the Sparks with a .727 field-goal percentage.

Karima Christmas – Duke ‘11
Indiana Fever, 6-0, Guard/Forward
2012-13 Stats: 6 games, 4.5 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 0.8 APG, 2.2 SPG, 0.2 BPG
After returning to Indiana this season, Christmas has most recently had her best two games of the young season for the Fever scoring a season high nine points against Washington on June 16. Four days earlier, Christmas posted seven points, eight rebounds, four steals and two assists in a game against the Sun. Christmas leads the Fever with 2.17 steals per contest.

Monique Currie – Duke ‘06
Washington Mystics, 6-0, Forward
2012-13 Stats: 6 games, 11.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.3 BPG
Currie returns to the Mystics after leading her Spanish League team to the league title and she has started the season strong. In a game on June 8 against Minnesota, Currie went 9-for-12 from the floor and 2-of-2 from three-point land, as she recorded 23 points, six rebounds, four assists in 35 minutes of playing time. In her last four games, Currie has averaged 13.8 points per contest while scoring double figures in each of those games. In the league, Currie ranks tied for sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.500), 16th in rebounds per game (6.2), 20th in minutes played (31.2) and in the top 30 in points per game (11.7). She is the second leading rebounder (6.2) for the Mystics and is the squad’s third leading scorer.

Lindsey Harding – Duke ‘07
LA Sparks, 5-8, Guard
2012-13 Stats: 4 games, 15.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 5.8 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.5 BPG
In her first season playing for the Sparks, Harding has returned to her form from last season in the postseason where she averaged 19.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds per contest for Atlanta. Harding has scored double figures in each of her four games this season with a season-high of 20 points against Tulsa. In the game, Harding was 6-of-13 from the floor, dished eight assists, had four steals and three rebounds in 39 minutes of game action. She ranks 15th in the league and second on the Sparks in scoring (15.5 PPG), while she is second in the league in assists (5.8).

Jasmine Thomas – Duke ’11
Atlanta Dream, 5-9, Guard
2012-13 Stats: 7 games, 9.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 3.3 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.4 BPG
Now in her third season in the WNBA and first with the Dream, Jasmine Thomas has started the season on a strong note after finishing in double figures scoring in four of seven games to open the year. She scored a season high of 15 points against the Fever to go along with four assists, three steals and three rebounds. Thomas has recorded double-figure scoring games over each of her past three contests, averaging 12.3 points per game. She leads the Dream in assists (3.3) and is tied for first in free-throw percentage (1.000).

Krystal Thomas – Duke ‘11
Phoenix Mercury, 6-5, Center
2012-13 Stats: 7 games, 1.7 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 0.1 APG, 0.1 SPG, 0.6 BPG
Thomas is in her fourth year in the WNBA and is playing for the Mercury for the third overall season of her career. In a 97-81 win over the Sparks on June 14, Thomas scored a season-high four points with four rebounds and one assist. Phoenix is 3-4 in the early portion of the season and in fourth place of the Western Conference.
