Gambucci represents Duke on both the RPI and coaches rankings lists, coming in at No. 20 and No. 24, respectively, at 133 pounds. Named the most recent ACC Wrestler of the Week, the Mansfield, Ohio native moved up three spots in the coaches rankings after defeating then-No. 27 Sam Speno of NC State to help Duke post a 22-9 victory over the Wolfpack. Gambucci, landing on the RPI list for the first time this season, is 17-4 overall and 12-3 in duals. Ranked fourth among ACC wrestlers, he will vie next weekend for one of five NCAA Championships berths awarded to the ACC.
At 184 pounds, Bencomo is 31st in the RPI rankings and fifth among ACC wrestlers. Bencomo posted a 14-10 overall record during the regular season this year, including going 4-0 in four matches at 197 pounds for the Blue Devils. The Phoenix native will battle for one of four automatic berths in the NCAA Championship field.
Hartmann rounds out the Blue Devils selections at No. 30 at 197 pounds. The Port Orchard, Wash., native has battled an injury in previous weeks and is 17-8 overall for the year. He last competed Jan. 6 in a hard-fought loss to current No. 22 Derrick Borlie of Virginia Tech. The ACC was awarded just two automatic slots for the NCAA Championships.
Duke, finishing the regular season with a 9-10 overall record, competes again at the ACC Championships, March 9 in College Park, Md.
