  • Duke begins postseason wrestling after posting a 9-10 overall record during the regular season
  • The Blue Devils went 1-4 against ACC foes, earning a 22-9 win over NC State

About the ACC Championship

  • The ACC will hold the 59th annual ACC Championship March 9 in College Park, Md., at the Comcast Center ... Wrestling begins at 11 a.m. and all of the action will be broadcast live by ESPN3  
  • First Round - 11 a.m.  
  • Semifinals - 1 p.m.  
  • Semifinal consolation - 3:30 p.m.  
  • Finals Consolation - 5 p.m.  
  • Finals - 7 p.m.

Duke In The ACC
A member of the ACC in wrestling since 1956, Duke's highest finish in the ACC Tournament was third place five times and most recently in 2004 ... Twenty-one different Duke wrestlers have won 29 ACC titles overall ... Joel Puleo is the Blue Devils' lone competitor to win three consecutive championships, bringing home top honors at heavyweight in 1973, 1974 and 1975 ... Five other wrestlers captured consecutive championships during their careers ... Duke has nine ACC titles at heavyweight, two at 184 pounds and one at the 174, 133 and 125-pound classifications ... Duke has had 26 All-ACC selections since teams were compiled in 1986 ... Blue Devils redshirt senior Diego Bencomo earned All-ACC recognition in 2011 after taking home runner-up honors at 184 pounds.

Duke took sixth overall at the 2012 ACC Championship with Tanner Hough earning one of the four automatic bids from 141 pounds ...  Diego Bencomo took third at 184 and Brandon Gambucci finished fourth at 133 ... The Blue Devils finished with 17.5 points.

Duke captured 11 top-seven finishes in six tournaments this seaosn, including a pair of victories from Conner Hartmann and Immanuel Kerr-Brown ... Overall, seven different wrestlers garnered a top-seven finish, including junior Brian Self picking up his first tournament placing by taking fifth at the Keystone Classic ... Hartmann finished among the top six in each tournament he entered, taking first, third twice and sixth in his four tournament outings.

Dual Points Leaders
The Blue Devils garnered at least 50 points in dual matches this season in the 133, 149 and 174-pound classes ... Brandon Gambucci (133) scored 53 points during the dual season, while redshirt freshman Trey Adamson (174) garnered 56 and classmate Marcus Cain (149) had 50.

Redshirt freshman Trey Adamson has won his previous five matches heading into the ACC Championship ... Adamson is 20-14 overall and is 8-2 in his past 10 bouts ... His last loss was a 3-2 decision to Tanner Eitel of North Carolina.

Youth Movement
Duke features a young lineup with eight redshirt freshmen or sophomores ... Throughout the year, the Blue Devils had just two seniors - Peter Terrezza (125) and Diego Bencomo (184) - in the lineup ... Brian Self is the lone junior among the starters.

Leading Off the Mat
Redshirt sophomore Immanuel Kerr-Brown is developing into a young leader for the Blue Devils ... The Rome, Ga., native serves as a team captain and is an active member of the Duke Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) ... In the summer of 2011, Kerr-Brown was picked to participate in a leadership conference at the U.S. Olylmpic Training Center.

Hartmann is No. 30 on the RPI list and came in as high as No. 27 during the year ... Gambucci was ranked 24th by the coaches and 20th in the RPI ... Hartmann climbed to as high as 18th in the NWCA/AWN individual rankings during the season before being set back by injury.

Lanham at the Helm
Glen Lenham was named the Blue Devils' wrestling head coach April 16, 2012 after a national search was conducted ... Lanham is the 12th head coach of the program and previously served as a Blue Devils assistant coach for two seasons ... A two-time All-American at Tennessee and Oklahoma State, Lanham helped mentor a pair of Blue Devils to the NCAA Championship in his two seasons as an assistant and guided Duke to nine wins in his inuagural season at the helm ... The Blue Devils' nine wins are the most for Duke since the 2008-09 season.

Tough Schedule
Duke faced a challenging schedule this season, taking on five ranked opponents over the course of the season ... The Blue Devils opened their dual schedule at No. 13 Northwestern and also faced No. 14 Michigan of the Big Ten ... Duke's matchups with the Wildcats and Wolverines marked the first time the Blue Devils had faced since 2007 ... Virginia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina each were ranked as well at the time of the matches ... Duke's duals with Michigan and Northwestern were the first ranked non-conference opponents Duke has faced since wrestling at Indiana in 2007.
