Redshirts freshman Bret Klopp leads all wrestlers with a 21-7 overall ranking at 174 pounds and recently was tabbed at No. 32 by WrestlingReport.com. He looks to get back into the win column after dropping his first dual match in a 9-4 decision against the Tar Heels on Tuesday.
Anchoring the lineup at 184 pounds, redshirt sophomore Diego Bencomo owns a 16-11 mark and is 1-2 in dual matches. He is six wins shy of reaching 50 career victories with a 44-26 record of the previous two seasons.
Coming off of a big win is senior Mike Bell at 141 pounds. The native of Rockwall, Texas registered his second fall of the season as he pinned Danny Lopes of North Carolina with 41 seconds remaining in the match. Bell is 10-11 overall and 1-2 in dual matches this season.
Redshirt sophomore Andrew Fulk garnered his second dual match win and five overall victory of the year at heavyweight against the Tar Heels, while Brian Self sports a 2-1 mark at 197 pounds. Fulk's lone loss was a four overtime setback at Davidson, while Self suffered a close 5-1 decision against North Carolina in the ACC opener.
Gardner-Webb returns home for its first home match since Dec. 10. The Bulldogs are 2-12 overall in dual matches with the last win coming against Belmont-Abbey at the Mountaineer Duals. Alex Medved leads the Bulldogs with an 18-9 overall record at 157 pounds. Ryan Medved owns a 13-8 overall record and 8-5 mark in dual matches in the 149-pound division, while Travis Porter is 15-11 overall at heavyweight.
Duke remains on the road for its next three events, traveling to N.C. State on Jan. 27 and to the Appalachian State on Jan. 29.
