2014-15: Transitioned from being a multi-event athlete to a sprinter during his sophomore season…Indoors, earned second team All-ACC honors as part of the silver-medal distance medley relay team at the ACC Indoor Championships (2/26)…covered the 400-meter leg to help the Blue Devils combine for a 9:43.15 clocking…also a member of the DMR that placed sixth with a 9:36.47 at the Armory Invitational (1/31), the second-fastest time in school history…ran leadoff for the 4x400 unit that took ninth at the ACC Indoor Championships (2/28) with the fifth-fastest performance all-time by a Blue Devil relay, combining for a 3:16.19…individually, produced the fastest times of the season for the Duke men in the 200, 300 and 400…clocked a 48.79 in the 400 at the Iowa State Classic (2/14), No. 2 all-time in Duke history, to place 13th…finished 28th in the prelims of the 400 at the ACC Indoor Championships (2/27) with a 49.51 showing…at the Hokie Invitational (1/23), completed the 300 in 34.74 to take second, the second-fastest time at that distance ever by a Blue Devil…opened the season with a runner-up finish at the Carolina Cup (1/16) by racing to a converted time of 22.07…clocked a 22.26 in the 200 at the Hokie Invitational (1/24) to place 12th…turned in a season-best 60-meter dash time of 7.09 to finish fifth in the prelims at the Carolina Cup (1/16), then recorded a 7.14 in the finals to place seventh…Outdoors, helped set a school record in the 4x400 at the Duke Twilight (5/7) with a first-place time of 3:10.76, then reset the mark the following week at the ACC Outdoor Championships (5/16), taking fifth with a 3:09.21…anchored the 4x100 that finished 19th in the preliminary heats at the Penn Relays (4/24) with a 41.63 performance, ranking as the fourth-fastest time in school history…recorded his fastest 400 time of the season at the ACC Outdoor Championships (5/15), posting a 48.47 to finish 24th in the prelims…ran a personal-best 21.96 in the 200 at the Duke Twilight (5/7) to take 15th…opened the season at the Carolina Relays (3/20) by placing third in the 200 with a 22.02...joined women’s pole vaulter Megan Clark in being honored by the ACC with the league’s Top Six for Service Award, presented annually to six student-athletes from each conference institution who demonstrate outstanding dedication to community service and outreach programs.
2013-14: Indoors, participated in one event during the indoor season…entered in a 4x400 at the Virginia Tech Invitational (1/18), running a time of 3:16.97, the fifth-fastest in Duke history…Outdoors, joined an experienced group of decathletes in his freshman season, competing in two multi-event competitions…saw his highest point total of the season come at the Virginia Challenge (5/10), amassing 6,369 points and finishing eighth overall…one of only two freshman to compete in the ACC decathlon, placing 12th with a point total of 6,296…member of the school record 4x400 meter relay team that ran a time of 3:11.74 at the VertKlasse Meeting (4/5) and the school record setting 4x200 which ran a time of 1:25.07 at the Penn Relays (4/25).
Prior to Duke: Four year letterwinner for Shawn Carter at Centennial High School…garnered USATF All-American honors in the decathlon by finishing eighth at the 2013 USATF National Junior Olympic Championships…two-time All-Midstate honoree (2012, 2013)…three-time AAU All-America honoree (2009, 2011 and 2012)…gold medalist at the 2011 AAU Junior Olympic Game Nationals…also lettered two years in cross country and football…served as president of DECA and vice president of the FBLA.
