DURHAM, N.C. – Senior Juliet Bottorff has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District III women’s track and field and cross country team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The selection is the first for Bottorff, who earned a 3.71 grade point average as a neuroscience major at Duke.

The 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year for women’s cross country, Bottorff has been named to the Women’s Cross Country All-ACC Academic team three times in her career, in addition to earning a spot on the ACC Academic Honor Roll each of the past three years. She has also previously received All-ACC Academic team accolades in outdoor track and field.

During the fall, Bottorff guided the Blue Devil women to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. The Newark, Del., native garnered All-America honors with a 27th-place finish overall, in addition to collecting All-Southeast Region and All-ACC honors with a pair of top-three finishes at both championship meets. The indoor track and field season saw Bottorff earn her first ACC title in the women’s 5,000m with a time of 16:15.83. She went on to capture first team All-America accolades in the same event at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, breaking an ACC and a Duke record with a mark of 15:49.45.

With her selection to the Academic All-District team, Bottorff is now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
