MEDELLIN, Colombia – Duke pole vaulter Megan Clark will begin competition this afternoon as a member of the USA Junior Track and Field team at the 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championship in Medellin, Colombia.

The USA Junior Outdoor Championship meet held in Des Moines, Iowa June 19-23 served as the qualifying meet for individuals looking to represent the United States in Medellin. After vaulting a personal best mark of 13-07.25 (4.15), Clark was crowned the Junior United States pole vault champion and earned a spot on the 37-member roster for the Pan American Junior Athletics Championship.

 The sophomore currently holds the third-best vault in Duke history with her qualifying effort at the USA Junior Outdoor Championship meet.

The Pan American Junior Athletics Championship is slated for Aug. 23-25, with the women’s pole vault competition beginning today at 4:20 local time.
