DURHAM, N.C. -- Sophomore Megan Clark received ACC Women's Co-Performer of the Week honors following a record-setting showing in the pole vault last weekend, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. Clark shares the honor with Elizabeth Whelan of North Carolina.

Clark received the weekly accolade after setting a school record in the pole vault at the Hilton Garden Innvitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., Saturday. The Fort Benning, Ga., native set a school record mark of 14-0.00 (4.27) in the event, winning the competition and remaining ahead of former Olympian Jillian Schwartz on Duke’s all-time list. The clearance currently ranks Clark tied for sixth in the nation in the event. Clark is just one of eight competitors in the nation to clear the 14-foot barrier in the women’s pole vault this season.

Although just four meets into her sophomore campaign, Clark’s season has already proven noteworthy. Clark recorded wins in three of her four appearances this season, including her record-setting performance last weekend. The former Junior Pan Am Junior Athletics Championship participant has steadily improved throughout the early stages of the season, opening 2014 with a clearance of 13-3.50 (4.05) at the Virginia Tech Invitational, before returning to competition one week later and recording a mark of 13-9.25 (4.20) at the Tar Heel Open. At the time, Clark’s clearance of 13-9.25 (4.20) ranked her second on Duke’s all-time list.

The Duke track and field team returns to competition Friday, Feb. 7, as approximately 20 competitors travel to the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y., and an additional 50 travel to Blacksburg, Va., for the Virginia Tech Elite Meet.
