DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, sat down with senior Ben Raskin to learn more about the Summit, N.J., native. Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.
Ben Raskin: First, the facilities that we get to use are tremendous and state of the art. Next, the support staff, the student athlete support staff and the professors and coaches. And third, the general atmosphere, getting to interact with not just track kids but kids on different teams, as well. What is your favorite competition-related memory?
BR: Probably last year after ACC’s breaking the 4x4 school record. That was fun. What is your favorite memory away from competition?
BR: Meeting all of my friends, freshman through senior year. Name three of your favorite restaurants in Durham.
BR: My favorite is probably Gugelhupf, then, is it bad if I say Chipotle? Everyone probably says Chipotle. And Watts Grocery. Name three foods that you can’t live without.
BR: Sushi, Chocolate Cake and Burgers. Name three people (living or dead) you would have dinner with if you could.
BR: Jay-Z, Gordon Ramsey and Coach K. Name three places you would travel to if you could.
BR: I’ve never been to Australia, so that would be pretty cool. Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Greece. What are your three favorite things about track?
BR: The feel of winning, because it’s very individual; when you win it’s all on you, and if you lose, you can’t really put blame on anyone else. The fact that it is very objective—there are times, it’s not about how you look or anything. Also, it is still a team sport. You still get championships, you still have to come together and you still have to score points.
