MOSCOW, Russia – Duke alum Kate Van Buskirk qualified for 1,500 meter semi-final at the 2013 IAAF World Championships Sunday, August 11. Representing Canada, Van Buskirk ran a time of 4:08.65 to finish seventh in her heat and 18th in the field at her first world championship race.
The Brampton, Ontario native had an impressive collegiate career as a Blue Devil that was highlighted by finishing third at the 2011 NCAA Championships in the 1,500 during her senior year.
The semi-final competition will take place on Tuesday, August 13. Van Buskirk will be competing in the second of two heats. Final qualifiers will include the top five in each heat plus the next two fastest times.
