DURHAM, N.C. -  Duke University multi-event standout Curtis Beach has been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III Team for his efforts on the field and in the classroom.

For his career, Beach has maintained a 3.528 GPA.  The Albuquerque, N.M., native has been equally impressive on the track, winning both the 2012 NCAA and ACC Indoor Track and Field Heptathlon.  Beach set the ACC record with 6,130 points in the event and broke the men's heptathlon 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:23.63 en route to the NCAA crown. 

Outdoors, the psychology major earned All-ACC honors in the decathlon and recently qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in both the 800 and long jump. The elite event will take place in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 6-9.  Beach has also qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials, which is set for the end of June.
