DURHAM, N.C. - The second day of the Duke Classic began with the Blue Devils' second sweep of the weekend as the Duke volleyball team knocked off East Carolina 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-10) Saturday morning in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Senior middle blocker Christiana Gray led Duke (7-1, 0-0 ACC) with 13 kills to go along with two blocks. The Carmel, Ind., native hit .667, posting just one error on 18 attacks. Freshman outside hitter Elizabeth Campbell reached double digit kills for the first time in her young career, knocking down 10 on .556 hitting.

Sophomores Maggie Deichmeister and Kelsey Williams split time at setter as the two combined for 35 of Duke's 41 assists.

On defense, Duke totaled 55 digs and 7.5 team blocks, limiting the Pirates to .064 hitting. The Blue Devils have now held four opponents this season to below .100 hitting, including both matches at the Duke Classic. Junior libero Ali McCurdy led all players with 18 digs, while freshman outside hitter Emily Sklar added 10 pickups.

East Carolina (1-7, 0-0 Conference USA) came out strong early and forced a Blue Devil timeout after staking a 10-6 advantage early in the first set. The momentum swung in Duke's favor following a pair of ECU errors and the Blue Devils would tie the game at 19-19 with a kill from junior middle blocker Chelsea Cook. Cook would finish the match with six kills on 11 attacks and a match-high five blocks.

A pair of Pirate attack errors and kills from Cook, Campbell, Gray and sophomore outside hitter Jeme Obeime polished off the first set 25-21 in favor of the Blue Devils. Campbell and Gray hit a combined .688 in the opening set with 11 kills as neither player committed an error in the game.

The Blue Devils quickly put the early scare behind them and would go on to outscore the Pirates 50-25 over the final two sets. Duke raced to a 9-2 lead in the second set and never looked back, taking the game 25-15.

The third and final set belonged completely to the Blue Devils, who limited ECU to .029 hitting in the game. Duke committed just one attack error in the final set and knocked down 14 kills to just seven for East Carolina.

Junior Hannah Allgood and freshman Torre Blake, both outside hitters, led the Pirates with seven kills apiece. Sophomore setter Zarah Cecich totaled 15 assists, while junior libero Shelby Beasley led ECU with 14 digs.

The Blue Devils conclude the 2012 Duke Classic tonight, taking on Northeastern in a 7 p.m. match up at Cameron Indoor Stadium, which will be streamed live by the Blue Devil Network.
