DURHAM, N.C. -- Through generous donations by dedicated Iron Dukes donors and contributions from Duke University and the Duke athletic department, the men’s and women’s track and field locker rooms located in Card Gymnasium saw recent renovations and additions that added numerous modern amenities and aesthetic upgrades.

Improvements to the locker room include a lounging area that allows student-athletes a space to relax following morning or afternoon workouts. The room includes a new sofa and a wall-mounted flat screen television. The social area also provides student-athletes with a charging station, one of the many modern touches included in the renovations, allowing up to 24 mobile devices to charge in an area at a time.

The shower area also saw considerable upgrades with the installation of new tiles. The white-tiled shower stalls are accented with Duke Blue tiles, continuing the Duke theme running throughout the locker room.

In the locker area, storage cubicles provide space for the student-athletes’ equipment and personal belongings, making gear easily accessible and well organized for future use. The locker area also boasts refurbished lockers painted Duke Blue, providing amble space for personal belongings in a safe and secure footlocker.

One of the major additions to the locker room is the cold tub, which helps expedite the recovery process for Duke’s track and field student-athletes. Many team members have already taken full advantage of the ice bath’s benefits following a challenging practice session.
