DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Jamie Green was named ACC Coach of the Year and senior Brinson Paolini earned All-ACC honors as selected by the league’s 11 head coaches and announced today by the league office. NC State junior Albin Choi was named the ACC Player of the Year, while Florida State’s Hank Lebioda was selected ACC Freshman of the Year.

Green, in his fifth season at the helm of the Duke program, was named ACC Coach of the Year for the first time after leading his Blue Devils to their first ACC title since 2005, and the program’s seventh overall. Duke won five tournament titles this season and placed in the top six in eight of 11 stroke-play events.  The Blue Devils finished five tournaments under-par and posted 15 under-par rounds on the year. Duke also set a school record with a 25-under 839 en route to winning the 2013 ACC Championship.

The Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year three times (2006, 2007  & 2008) at Charlotte, Green has led teams to 27 tournament victories, including 10 in the last five seasons at Duke. He has also mentored 20 all-conference performers and five All-Americas in his career.

Paolini earned All-ACC honors for the second time in his career after posting an outstanding senior season. The Virginia Beach, Va.,  native finished in the top 20 of all 11 stroke-play event with six top 10s and four top 5 finishes. He closed the campaign with a 71.8 stroke average with 16 under-par rounds, including eight rounds in the 60s. Paolini, the 2010 ACC Freshman of the Year, closed out his Duke career second in the record books in stroke average (72.17), rounds in the 60s (28), under-par rounds (48), even-par or better rounds (69), top 5 finishes (12) and top 20 finishes (28). He is also tied for first in even-par rounds with 21, while ranking among the all-time leaders in top 10 finishes (t-3rd – 18), tournaments played (t-7th – 45) and rounds (t-7th – 133).

In becoming only the third NC State player to be named ACC Player of the Year, Choi is currently ranked third by Golfstat and 26th by Golfweek. The Toronto, Ontario, junior was the only ACC player among the 10 semifinalists for The Ben Hogan Award and currently leads all ACC golfers with five victories during the 2012-13 season. In addition, Choi, a three-time All-ACC selection, ranks second in the league with a 70.71 scoring average.

Lebioda leads all ACC freshmen, and ranks ninth overall, in stroke average (71.84) and is ranked 94th by Golfweek. In becoming only the second Seminole to earn ACC Freshman of the Year honors, the Winter Spring, Fla., product finished tied for 10th place at last month’s ACC Championship with a three-under 213 (68-71-74) and during the spring season finished no worse than 19th in five tournament competitions.

Eight of the 11 ACC men’s golf programs are represented on this year’s All-ACC team. Florida State led the way with three players selected to the All-ACC squad. Seminole sophomore Daniel Berger, the runner-up in the balloting for ACC Player of the Year, was joined on the team by senior Chase Seiffert and Lebioda. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech each had two players tabbed for the All-ACC team, with Duke, Maryland, NC State, Virginia and Wake Forest each having one player chosen.
