Four Blue Devils Named to PING All-East Region Team

DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke men's golf team placed four players on the Division I PING All-East Region team as announced by the GCAA late Wednesday. Juniors Brinson Paolini and Julian Suri were honored for the third time in their respective careers, while senior Spencer Anderson and sophomore Austin Cody were selected all-region for the first time.

Suri set a single season Duke record with a 71.3 stroke average in 2011-12, while also recording wins at the Rod Myers Invitational and the John Burns Intercollegiate. The St. Augustine, Fla., native posted 16 rounds of under-par golf, including nine rounds in the 60s. He closed the season with eight top 20 finishes, six top 10s and five top 5s as well.

Paolini was tied for second on the team with a 72.6 stroke average to go along with 12 under-par rounds and seven rounds in the 60s. He recorded his first career victory at the River Landing Intercollegiate and finished the year with three top 5 finishes and five top 20 showings.

Anderson also had a 72.6 stroke average, while collecting five top 20 finishes. The Pacific Palisades, Calif., native recorded 11 under-par rounds and posted a counting team score in 23 of 24 rounds as a member of the lineup. Anderson had a career-best tie for second finish at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. Cody closed the season with a 73.3 stroke average, nine under-par rounds and five top 5 finishes. He had a season-best tie for seventh finish at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.

A total of 155 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2012.
