DURHAM, N.C. – Several former Duke golfers, including PGA Tour members Kevin Streelman, Joe Ogilvie and Nate Smith, are competing in various professional tours this summer. Here is a look at how some of these Blue Devils are faring in the professional ranks.
Kevin Streelman (2001)
2011 Tour Earnings - $903,875
NOTES – Streelman has played in 17 events this year, making 13 cuts. He has totaled 503 FedEx Cup points to sit 57th in the standings. Streelman has six top 25 finishes, including three top 10s, and boasts a 71.02 stroke average in 2011. He fired a 66-70-63-66=265 (-15) to post a season best tie for sixth finish at the Travelers Championship. He has finished in the top 10 in three of the last four tournaments played. He is currently playing in the AT&T National.
Joe Ogilvie (1996)
2011 Tour Earnings - $569,809
NOTES – Ogilvie has played in 13 events, making the cut seven times. He has a pair of top 25 finishes including a third-place finish at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Ogilvie ranks 113th in the FedEx Cup standings with 288 points and is 19th on Tour in eagles per hole (1 eagle every 126 holes). He fired a 66-70-72-70=278 (-2) to tie for third and earn $377,000 at the HP Byron Nelson Championship in late May. Ogilvie has now played in 343 career PGA Tour events with earnings closing on $10 million. He is currently playing in the AT&T National.
Nate Smith (2006)
2011 Tour Earnings – $115,771
NOTES - Smith has played in 14 tournaments, making six cuts in his first year on tour. He has a 71.69 stroke average and has claimed $115,771 in earnings. He ranks 11th on tour with an eagle every 108 holes (seven eagles in 756 holes played). Smith carded an hole-in-one on the par 3 fifth hole at TPC River Highlands in the third round of the Travelers Championship.
Ryan Blaum (2006)
NOTES - Blaum is currently playing in Europe having played in eight events on the Challenge Tour and two on the European Tour. He shot 69-73-66-73=281 (-3) to finish 19th in the Abierto International Copa Antioquia to earn 1,735 euros.
eTour Professional Golf Adam Long (2010)
NOTES – Long has played in nine tournaments, making five cuts this season. He posted a season-best tie for seventh at The Samanah Classic in Morocco with a 276 (71-68-68-69). He has generated $13,175.42 in earnings.
Clark Klaasen (2009)
NOTES – Klaasen has played in eight events, making the cut six times and recording three top 25 finishes. He fired a 70-66-67-68=271 to finish 10th at the Cowans Ford Open. Klaasen also had a 12th place at the Championship at St. James Place. He has claimed $16,561.84 in earnings this season.
Wes Roach (2011)
NOTES – Roach, who just completed his college eligibility in early June, played in his first event at the Cowans Ford Open (June 22-25). He shot 68-69-71-70=278 to finish tied for 37th and claim $1,535.33 in earnings.
Gateway Pro Tour
Michael Quagliano (2009)
NOTES – Quagliano has played in three events on the Gateway Pro Tour. He won the Palm Valley GC Tournament in February with a 70-67-64=201 to grab the $16,000 purse. Quagliano shot 64-65-69=198 to finish third in the Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa Tournament and also has a tie for 11th finish at the Corte Bella GC Tournament. He has seven rounds in the 60s in his nine rounds played this season.
