DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's golf team members Austin Cody and Yaroslav Merkulov earned undergraduate degrees from the institution Sunday. Cody received his degree in sociology, while Merkulov was a psychology major.

"All of the coaches and staff are so proud and pleased that Austin and Yarik graduated today," said head coach Jamie Green. "We are proud of all the things they accomplished at Duke and how they helped our golf program on many levels. Both guys were consistent members of our lineup as well as ACC Honor Roll student-athletes. We know that each of them will go on to successful careers and looking forward to following their progression in all the different endeavors that they choose."

During their four years with the program, Cody and Merkulov helped the Blue Devils to nine tournament titles, including the 2011 NCAA East Regional and the 2013 ACC Championship, while also combining for 19 top 20 individual finishes.

Cody played a total of 115 rounds in his career. The North Charleston, S.C., native shot even-par or better 32 times, including 22 under-par efforts. He also had 14 career top 20 finishes, including a career-best second place showing at the 2013 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. Cody was in the Duke lineup during its NCAA Championship Match-play semifinal run as well as the Blue Devils 2013 ACC Championship.

Merkulov, a Penfield, N.Y., native, battled injuries throughout his career missing significant time over the past two seasons. He played 59 total rounds, including 18 at even-par or better. Merkulov had five top 20 finishes with a career best tie for second at the 2011 Irish Creek Collegiate.
