DURHAM, N.C. - Following qualifying over the last month, Duke University alum Jennie Lee has joined two other Blue Devils that will participate in the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open, which will take place July 5-8 at the Original Championship Course at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin.
Lee, along with Brittany Lang and Amanda Blumenherst will play in the four-day prestigious championship.
A 2009 Duke graduate, Lee shot a 36-hole total of 146 to earn one of six spots at the Trump National Golf Club in Colts Neck, N.J., on May 15. A product of Henderson, Nev., Lee will play in her sixth U.S. Open and her first since 2009. Lee was tied for the low amateur at the 2007 U.S. Open, when it was played at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C.
The last time the U.S. Women’s Open was played at Blackwolf Run was in 1998, when Blue Devil golfer Jenny Chuasiriporn fell in a playoff to Se Ri Pak as an amateur. Chuasiriporn drained a 45-foot putt on the 72nd hole to force a Monday playoff, but ended up falling by one stroke in the 18-hole playoff.
