ANTALYA, Turkey – Both Duke University golfers – Celine Boutier and Alejandra Cangrejo – each turned in solid rounds on Thursday to open the World Team Amateur Championship at the Gloria Golf Club Old and New Courses in Antalya, Turkey. 

The four-day event features 18 holes each day as Boutier is playing for France and Cangrejo is representing Colombia. 

A native of Montrouge, France, Boutier turned in a one-under-par, 71, with five birdies on the day.  The Duke freshman was three-under-par through 11 holes but suffered bogeys on No. 12, No. 13 and No. 18 to close with a 71.  She also registered a birdie on the 139-yard, par three 17th.  Boutier is tied for 12th overall and only two shots off the individual lead.

Becky Harries of Wales and Daniela Holmgyist of Sweden each carded a three-under-par, 69, on Thursday to take the individual lead. 

Cangrejo, who is from Bogota, Colombia, posted an even-par, 72, on day one and is tied for 16th overall.  She turned in 14 pars, two birdies and two bogeys on the day. 

In the team standings, Sweden took the opening day lead with a three-under-par, 141, while Latvia (142), Canada (143), Japan (143), Czech Republic (143), Spain (143), New Zealand (143), Germany (144), Republic of Korea (144), Singapore (144), France (144), Australia (144) and Belgium (144) round out the top 13 teams.  Colombia is tied for 14th overall with a 145.
