PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Duke women’s golf team will kick off its spring season at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge from Feb. 11-13 at the 6,107-yard, par 71 Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif. The 54-hole event, hosted by Ohio State University, will pit the fifth-ranked Blue Devils against 15 other teams, including nine teams ranked in the top 25 and four teams ranked in top five.

The Blue Devils enter the spring after notching three top five finishes in the fall, including two runner-up placements at the Cougar Classic and the Landfall Tradition. The Blue Devils opened the fall at the Cougar Classic in Hanahan, S.C, grabbing second place after posting a six-under 858, before concluding the season at the Landfall Tradition where they carded a one round total of 293, one shot behind winner Oklahoma State.

Competing in the Northrop Grumman will be Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pepperdine, Texas, UCLA, USC, Wake Forest and Washington.

The Blue Devils are led by senior Lindy Duncan, who is coming off a first place finish at the 2013 Copa de las Americas with partner Erynne Lee at the Doral Resort and Spa. A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Duncan is a three-time first team All-America selection, and is coming off a junior year in which she became the third Duke golfer to be named the PING NGCA National Player of the Year. In the fall,
Duncan tallied a 71.6 stroke average and notched two top-five finishes including a second place finish at the Cougar Classic in which Duncan fired a nine-under par, 207.

Last season, Duncan won the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge after posting a three day total of 210.

Junior Laetitia Beck enters the spring with a stroke average of 73.80, after carding four even or under par rounds in the fall. Beck concluded the fall season with two top-20 finishes, highlighted by a T-12 finish at the Tar Heel Invitational in which she carded rounds of 70-78-72 to post a four-over par, 220. The Caesarea, Israel native is a two-time All-ACC selection after tallying three top 10 and five top 20 finishes during her sophomore campaign.

A native of Montrouge, France, Celine Boutier placed second on the team after the fall with a stroke average of 73.50, while earning one top-five finish at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. In the rain shortened, one round event, Boutier fired a one-under par 71 to put her in a tie for fifth place. Boutier joined the Blue Devils after a busy summer in which she claimed the title at the European Ladies Amateur with a 16-under-par performance and finished second in qualifying at the Ladies British Open Amateur.

Junior Alejandra Cangrejo and freshman Yi Xiao will round out the lineup for the Blue Devils. Cangrejo only competed in one tournament in the fall, carding a 76 in the rain shortened Landfall Invitational, and owned a 75.19 stroke average last season. Xiao, a native of Guangzhou, China, has tallied a 74.78 stoke average in the first three events of her Blue Devil career, highlighted by a T-10th at the Cougar Classic in which she posted a two-under par, 214.

Sophomore Irene Jung will also participate in the event as an individual. Jung competed in seven tournaments during her freshman campaign, compiling a 75.50 stroke average.

The Blue Devils are slated to kick off the 54-event on Monday, Feb. 11 and will play 18 holes each of the three days. For live scoring, visit www.golfstat.com
