DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off its second victory of the season at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Sunday, the Duke women’s golf team remained No. 3 in the latest Golf World/WGCA Division I College Coaches’ Poll that was released Wednesday.
Southern California received all 23 first place votes and continues to hold the top slot, while UCLA, Duke, Arizona State, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Stanford, Washington and Clemson round out the top 10.
Duke registered a 10-stroke victory over the weekend at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate as the Blue Devils carded rounds of 284, 291 and 287 to finish with a 10-over-par, 862. The Blue Devils also collected the team victory at the Tar Heel Invitational in the fall. It marks the third straight season Duke has won at least two tournaments.
Over the weekend, freshman Yu Liu carded her first collegiate victory as she finished 54 holes in a tie with LSU’s Caroline Nistrup with a three-day total of 211. Liu, who is out of Beijing, China, won the first playoff hole with a birdie to collect the win. She now owns five top 10 finishes in five appearances to open her career.
Duke will next compete in the Bryan National Collegiate from March 28-30 at the Champions Course at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C.
