DURHAM, N.C. – Riding a two tournament win streak, the third-ranked Duke women’s golf team will head to Tempe, Ariz., this weekend to close the regular season at the 2014 PING/ASU Invitational, which will be played at the 6,223-yard, par 72 Arizona State University Karsten Golf Course.
The tournament will feature 54 holes from April 4-6 with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m., Friday and Saturday, followed by a 7:30 a.m., start on Sunday in the final round.
Ten of the 15 teams competing in the invitational are ranked in the top 21 nationally, including seven top 10 squads. Along with Duke, Arizona State (6), Arizona (9), California, Oklahoma (5), Oregon (21), Oregon State, South Carolina (8), Stanford (10), Texas, UC Davis, UCLA (2), Vanderbilt (12), Washington (11) and Washington State will see action.
As a team, Duke is coming off registering wins in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and the Bryan National Collegiate. The Blue Devils have now won three tournaments for the second straight season under head coach
Dan Brooks.
Sophomore
Celine Boutier and freshman
Yu Liu have each registered their first collegiate wins in the last two tournaments and are ranked in the top 10 nationally in the Golfweek Sagarin Performance Index. Liu, who is out of China, is ranked No. 2, while Boutier, a native of France, is 10th.
