Celine Boutier, senior Laetitia Beck and freshman Yu Liu earning recognition.DURHAM, N.C. – The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has announced the 2013-14 All-America teams for Division I women’s golf with Duke sophomore
Both Boutier and Beck received first team accolades for the first time in their career, while Liu was named to the second team, following leading the Blue Devils to their sixth NCAA Championship last week in Tulsa, Okla.
Boutier registered a 71.50 stroke average, three victories, six top five finishes and seven top 10 placements on the year, while being named the WGCA National Player of the Year. A product of Montrouge, France, Boutier played her best golf of the season in the spring notching a 70.77 stroke average, three wins and six top 20 finishes in seven events.
The ACC Player of the Year carded a 616-37 head-to-head record in the spring against the best teams in the nation. She collected her first three collegiate victories at the Bryan National Collegiate, PING/ASU Invitational and the ACC Championship. Boutier finished runner-up at the NCAA Championship, marking the second straight top-four placement in the final tournament of the season.
On the year, Boutier’s 71.50 stroke average ranked as the fifth-lowest in school history, while her 20 rounds of even or under par tied third on Duke’s single-season charts.
For the second straight year, Beck earned All-America accolades after carding a 72.29 stroke average, five top five finishes, six top 10 and seven top 20 placements in her final season. Beck, who is out of Caesarea, Israel, featured a string of three straight top five finishes at the Bryan National Collegiate, PING/ASU Invitational and the ACC Championship. She closed her career with a round of two-under to help propel the Blue Devils to the NCAA Championship.
Beck collected 45 rounds of even or under par over her career to rank tied fifth on the Duke all-time charts.
Liu, a native of Beijing, China, opened her Blue Devil career with eight straight top 10 finishes on her way to earning Second Team All-America and ACC Rookie of the Year honors. She collected a 72.36 stroke average, eight top 10 finishes and notched a victory at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Liu’s 72.36 stroke average ranked as the third-lowest in school history by a Duke freshman. She added five top five finishes and fired Duke’s lowest 18-hole ledger of the season with a 66 at the PING/ASU Invitational.
