DURHAM, N.C. – As the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur gets set to open action Monday, Aug. 4 at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, N.Y., Duke women’s golf will feature two Blue Devils in the field – Celine Boutier and Alejandra Cangrejo.  The championship will take place Aug. 4-11 with stroke play qualifying the first two days before match play begins.

Boutier, a product of Montrouge, France, is coming off a third place ledger at the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship.  The 2014 WGCA National Player of the Year and Honda Award winner, Boutier had an outstanding sophomore season for Duke that included a 71.50 stroke average, three victories and six top five finishes.

A 2014 Duke graduate, Cangrejo closed her career by helping lead Duke to its sixth NCAA Championship in May.  She carded a two-under-par, 68, in her final collegiate round to help propel the Blue Devils to the title.  Cangrejo netted 14 top 20 finishes over her Duke career and was an Honorable Mention All-America as a junior.

Tee times will open Monday with Cangrejo starting at 9:10 a.m., on hole one followed by a 2:10 p.m., tee time Tuesday in the second round on the 10th hole.  Boutier kicks off her tournament at 2:00 p.m., Monday on No. 10 and then will play at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday off No. 1.

The Golf Channel will air the match play portion of the championship Aug. 6-10 from 3:00-5:00 p.m.  Schedule of play will be first round Aug. 6, second and third rounds Aug. 7, quarterfinals Aug. 8, semifinal Aug. 9 and a 36-hole championship match Aug. 10.

Duke features two past U.S. Amateur winners in Amanda Blumenherst (2008) and Virada Nirapathpongporn (2003).
