Getting to Know Courtney Ellenbogen

My dream foursome is … Sergey Brin, Greg Mortenson, Vladimir Horowitz and me.

My best shot ever was … A 10 foot putt to save a halve during the Canon Cup. I was trying to keep my partner undefeated.

My best 18-hole round ever was … A 67 to come from behind and win a tournament out in California.

My favorite sport outside golf is … Skiing; you can make it really intense and the scenery is amazing.

My favorite club in my bag is … My putter because there's always a chance to save strokes with it.

My go to club is … Hopefully whichever one is right for the shot, although I always feel good over an 8 iron.

The person who has had the biggest influence on my golf career is …
My Dad. Even though he's never touched my swing, he always motivates me and picks me up.

My pre-round superstitions or rituals are … It’s not really a ritual but I can't have my cell phone in my bag – even if it’s off – as if it’s going to distract my focus or something.

My favorite course I have played is … Pumpkin Ridge just outside of Portland, Ore.

The course I would most like to play but haven’t had a chance to yet is … Cypress Point on the cliffs near Carmel, Calif.

My favorite athlete outside of golf is … Dustin Pedroia, second baseman for the Red Sox.

If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be … The Swiss Alps, preferably to hike them.

My hobbies outside of golf are … Running, reading, skiing and hiking.

My best talent other than playing golf is … Playing the piano.

My favorite food is … I almost always order fish when I eat at restaurants.

A weird fact not many people might not know about me is … I listen to news on the radio more than music.

My secret addiction is … Captain Crunch Berries. I've put myself in rehab by only buying cereal from the organic section. Crunch Berries are not organic.

If I could appear on the cover of any magazine, it would be … Time's 100 Most Influential People issue.

If I could spend three hours doing anything, it would be …
Skiing anywhere in the Rockies.

The weirdest noise I can make is … I'm horrible at making noises.

My current ring tone is … Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down.

My favorite web site to visit is …
Yahoo Sports.

My favorite move is … The Departed, mostly because of Leonardo DiCaprio.

My go to meal I can cook is … An omelet with cold cut turkey in it (I can almost always find it in the fridge).

I started playing golf at age … Five. Steve Prater started me playing, who was the pro at my home club.  He always made it fun and got me into the game.

My favorite class I have taken at Duke so far is …
Modern Terrorism.

What I like best about Coach Brooks is … He's always so positive that no matter how I feel when I get to the course, I'm always pumped to focus and get better once I start practicing

Duke is the best place to play collegiate golf because … The whole team is focused on winning and getting better. At the same time, everyone on campus is really talented also so it’s fun to get to know people and it helps keep things in perspective.
