PALOS VERDES, Calif. - Heading into the final round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Duke University junior Lindy Duncan holds a one-stroke lead at the 5,912-yard, Par 71 Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif.

Duncan, who is searching for her fourth career victory and second of the 2011-12 campaign,  has carded rounds of 69 and 71 for a 36-hole total of 140, which is one ahead of UCLA’s Erynne Lee (141) and two ahead of Tiffany Lua of UCLA (142).

On Tuesday, Duncan posted two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars on her way to shooting an even par, 71.  She totaled 29 putts along with hitting eight fairways and 12 greens on the day.    The current top-ranked golfer in the nation, Duncan played her final 10 holes of the day at one-under-par.

As a team, Duke shot an 18-over-par, 302 and dropped to fourth place with a two-day total of 594.  UCLA leads with a 36-hole ledger of 570, while Southern California (588), Pepperdine (592), Duke (594), Arizona State (597), Colorado (598), Ohio State (598), Michigan State (599), Oregon (604) and Florida State (605) rounded out the top 10.

A day after turning in a one-under-par, 70, sophomore Alejandra Cangrejo struggled with a 79 on Tuesday.  A product of Bogota, Colombia, Cangrejo dropped from third to tied for 26th.  She started slow with a bogey, double-bogey on the first two holes and couldn’t get it going in the second round as she sank two birdies.

After carding a 79 on Monday, sophomore Laetitia Beck rebounded with a 75 in the second round to move up to tied for 48th with a 154.  A native of Caesarea, Israel, Beck was even par through 12 holes as she notched three birdies, three bogeys and six pars.  She closed the final five holes with four bogeys and one par to finish with a four-over-par, 75.  Beck hit 10 greens, six fairways and had 31 putts on the day.

For the second straight round, junior Stacey Kim had a rough 1-9 holes as she was six-over-par, 41, on the front nine but closed with nine straight pars on holes 10-18 to finish with a 77.  A product of Columbus, Ga., Kim was held without a birdie on Tuesday as she hit seven greens, 11 fairways and had 29 putts.  Kim has played holes 10-18 at one-under-par through two days of action.  She is tied for 39th with a 152.

Freshman Irene Jung will enter the final round tied for 63rd with a two-day total of 158, after turning in rounds of 78 and 80.  Playing as an individual, junior Courtney Ellenbogen is tied for 53rd with a 155.  She had an 80 on Tuesday in the second round.

In the final round, Duke will tee off beginning at 11:00 a.m. (EST) with a shotgun start along with Arizona State and Colorado.
