GAINESVILLE, Fla. -  The eighth-ranked Duke women’s golf team closed strong on Sunday at the Florida Gator Invitational as the Blue Devils carded a tied for team-best round of 295 to finish at the 6,002-yard, Par 70 Mark Bostic Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

Host and 18th-ranked Florida finished at the top of the leader board with a score of 24-over-par (294, 283 287=864), followed by No. 2 Alabama (284-293-288=865), No. 31 Florida State in third (290-293-289=872), No. 13 Georgia (286-296-295=877) in fourth and No. 8 Duke finished in fifth place (295-300-287=882). All the top five teams are currently in the top fifty of the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

Lindy Duncan, who struggled with an illness on Saturday, bounced back from her seven-over par 77 second round to fire a three-under par, 67, on the final day to finish eighth overall (72-77-67=216). Claiming her sixth top-10 victory of the season, Duncan started the day off with a birdie to make the turn at one-under par before collecting a bogey on No. 14 and a birdie on No. 17.  The Fort Lauderdale native collected the only eagle of the entire tournament, and her third eagle of the season on the par-four No. 18 to finish the day with 14 greens, 10 fairways, and 29 putts.   On the 18th, Duncan had 15 uphill yards and hit a five-iron that went straight in the hole without any bounces.

In six tournaments this season, Duncan now owns a 68.5 scoring average in the third round.

Sophomore Laetitia Beck fired a one-over par in the final round on Sunday to conclude the tournament at nine-over par and to finish tied for 15th-place overall (74-74-71=219). The Caesarea, Israel native, started off the final round slow, collecting two bogeys on her first two holes before firing a birdie on No. 11 to make the turn at one-over par. Beck ran into trouble on the back nine posting a double-bogey on No. 16 and bogeys on No. 2, No. 7 and No. 8 before collecting her fourth birdie to close out the final round.   Beck, who posted her fourth top-20 finish of the season, hit nine greens, eight fairways, and had 29 putts in the final round.

Junior Stacey Kim, a product of Columbus, Ga., started off the final round with two bogeys in her first three holes before collecting another bogey on No. 15 and two birdies on No. 12 and No. 16 to finish the front nine at two-over par.  On the back nine, Kim suffered three bogeys and one double-bogey and posted one birdie to finish four-over par 74, and to finish the tournament at 14-over par (72-78-74=224) and tied for 35th-place. Kim hit nine greens, 10 fairways and had 29 putts on Sunday.

Alejandra Cangrejo shot two-over par on the front nine before running into trouble on the back nine collecting one double-bogey, three bogeys, and one birdie to post a five-over par, 75, in the final round of play. Cangrejo, who is out of Bogota Colombia, hit six greens, nine fairways and 27 putts on route to finishing 16-over par 226 and tied for 42nd-place over

Junior Courtney Ellenbogen carded a final round of six-over par 76. Ellenbogen totaled three bogeys and one birdie on the front nine to make the turn at two-over.  The junior suffered four more bogeys to close the weekend with a combined score of 19-over par 229 and tied for 48th-place overall.

Irene Jung, a product of Bedford, Nova Scotia, posted an eight-over par 78 final round to finish the weekend 25-over par 235 and tied for 71st-place overall. The freshman collected one double-bogey, eight bogeys, and two birdies.  Jung hit seven greens, eight fairways, and had 32 putts.
