DURHAM, N.C. - Duke led the Atlantic Coast Conference with five selections to the 2012 All-ACC Men's Tennis team, as announced Thursday by Commissioner John Swofford.

Sophomore Chris Mengel garnered the second All-ACC Academic honors of his career, while junior Henrique Cunha was one of three student-athletes named to the all-academic team who also earned All-America honors. Both Mengel and Cunha were also tabbed All-ACC performers this season.

Joining Mengel and Cunha on the All-ACC Academic Team were senior Torsten Wietoska and freshmen Raphael Hemmeler and Jason Tahir, who all received their first selection.

The men's tennis program has placed at least three student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic team in each of the past seven seasons and 30 overall since the award's inception in 2006.

Duke led the conference with five student-athletes on the 2012 All-ACC Academic squad, while Florida State and North Carolina each had three selections. Georgia Tech's Kevin King was named the ACC Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
