DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman men's tennis player Henrique Cunha has been named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Student Athlete of the Week after going undefeated in leading Duke to the championship match of the ACC Tournament.

Cunha was 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles during the ACC Tournament. He defeated three opponents ranked in the top 30, including No. 9 Michael Shabaz of Virginia. He also had two ranked doubles wins with a victory over the 19th-ranked duo from Wake Forest. The Blue Devils lost 4-2 in the championship match to the top-ranked team in the nation, Virginia.

This season Cunha has posted a 33-5 record in singles with wins in his last 18 matches. He has not lost a singles match since Jan. 31. He has teamed with Reid Carleton to go 37-5 in doubles and earn the No. 1 national ranking. The 37 wins are a school record. He was named ACC Player and Freshman of the Year last week and was one of two All-ACC selections for the Blue Devils.
