STANFORD, Calif. - The draws for the NCAA singles and doubles championships were released on Tuesday. The first round of singles will begin tomorrow with doubles starting on Thursday.
Duke has two players competing in the NCAA individual championships. Sophomore Henrique Cunha, the No. 8 overall seed, will square off against No. 40 Sekou Bangoura Jr. of Florida at 11:30 a.m. (PT) in the first round. Senior Reid Carleton is a 9-16 seed and draws No. 45 Tennys Sandgren of Tennessee at 12:30 p.m. (PT) to start the tournament.
Both Blue Devils have experience in individual postseason play. Last year Cunha advanced to the semifinals in singles before losing to the eventual national champion Bradley Klahn of Stanford. Carleton was chosen for the 2009 NCAA Championships and fell in the first round to Nate Schnugg of Georgia.
In doubles the seventh-seeded Carleton and Cunha will match up against the brothers tandem from Ole Miss, No. 10 Christoph and Marcel Thiemann. Last season Carleton and Cunha reached the quarterfinals before losing to the eventual national champions Drew Courtney and Michael Shabaz of Virginia.
