OSHAWA, ONTARIO – The U.S. national women’s lacrosse team advanced to the semifinals at the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship with a dominant 20-1 victory over the Haudenosaunee Thursday afternoon.

Team USA jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game’s first 10 minutes and went on to take a 15-0 advantage at halftime. The U.S. defense allowed just three shots in the contest and held the Haudenosaunee scoreless for 53:46 to win by a 20-1 margin.

Former Duke goalkeeper Megan Huether tallied one save in the second half of action while fellow Duke graduate Sarah Bullard scored one goal, giving her six for the tournament.

With Thursday’s quarterfinal round win, Team USA (5-0) is the only remaining undefeated squad at the FIL World Cup and will move on to face the winner of the quarterfinal match between fourth-seeded England (1-3) and fifth-seeded Wales (0-4) in Friday’s semifinal at 11:30 a.m. EST in Oshawa.
